How to Care for Your Jewellery
Learn how to maintain the sparkles and ensure your jewellery remains in prime condition with a few simple tips.
Gold and Platinum
To preserve the lustre of your gold and platinum jewellery, avoid exposing it to household bleach and other cleaning products which may lead to discolouration of the metal. We recommend storing your jewellery for safekeeping when doing chores, showering, swimming, exercising, using lotion/hair products/fragrances/cosmetics etc.
Diamonds and Gemstones
It’s true that diamonds are incredibly hard stones, but even then, they can be damaged under certain circumstances. We recommend that you avoid exposing your diamond/gemstone jewellery to harsh chemicals or abrasive solutions. Whether it is sunscreen, perfume, hairspray, or washing up, it’s best to remove your jewellery to prevent eroding or dulling it.
When handling diamonds, ensure you pick it up by its band and not by the stone or setting. This helps to maintain the setting’s secureness and prevents any natural oils from your fingers building up around the stone.
Pearls
Although cohesive and shock-resistant, pearls may be scratched if in contact with sharp objects or other gemstones. We recommend laying out each piece separately in a jewellery box or in a protective pouch when carrying. Before storing, wipe your pearl jewellery gently with a soft cloth to ensure no perspiration that could harm the pearl’s lustre remains. Always put on your jewellery as a final touch, after applying make-up and styling hair. Pearl necklaces, whether worn often or not, should be cleaned and restrung professionally once a year.
